North Atherton Farmers Market
About the NAFM

The North Atherton Farmers Market is proud to be a
Buy Fresh Buy Local Partner!

Hours and Location...
The North Atherton Farmers Market (NAFM) is held on Saturdays from 10am-2pm from May to November at the Home Depot Parking lot on North Atherton Street in State College, PA.

Producer Only Distinction...
The NAFM is proud to be a producers-only market which requires that vendors sell only what they produce. The NAFM is also proud to feature local bakeries, specialty food vendors and crafters in addition to the farmers and their products.  The NAFM provides fresh produce, specialty baked goods, meat, eggs, dairy products, artisinal cheese and bread, honey, and craft products on a limited basis. The NAFM works in conjunction with the ideals and principles established by other markets in the area to provide the same market shopping experience on the North side of town. As the market grows in vendor membership and customer base, we expect to expand to be as much of a one stop shopping for local food items as a  market can offer.

Start of the Market...
It is important for customers to know that the market opens and closes with the ringing of Mothersbaugh's Market Bell. This is a signal that vendors can begin to make sales and to start to pack to head home. Beginning sales at the same time reduces competition among vendors and customer confusion and packing up at the same time ensures that all vendors will be present until the market closes (with occasional exceptions due to scheduling).

A bit of history...
For many years, some of the veteran market vendors in the Centre region were on a continual hunt for space on the North side of town to hold a farmers market. In 2010, with support from Patton Township (with special thanks to Ken Soder and Doug Erickson) and Home Depot (with special thanks to Eric Walker), the hunt finally ended.  Home Depot stepped up to offer space in their parking lot for a market to be held. Shortly thereafter, interested vendors were convened and the North Atherton Farmers Market (NAFM) was established. Since the initial meetings, many vendors have joined and many still express interest in the market. With growing neighborhoods and families on the North side of town, with ample parking and with an ideal location at Home Depot with banks, restaurants and other shopping sites nearby, the Home Depot parking lot became the new home of the NAFM.
